District News

Below we will add District News as we get it. We will date it and after it has been on this page for a few weeks we will archive it.
An Explorer Scout from 5th Redruth was awarded his Queen's Scout Award at our St George's Day Service. First Scout in the District to earn this award.
The District AGM on 13th May, at Hayle Day Care Centre, will be the last official engagement of our current District Commissioner, John Broadbridge. He is retiring after six years and is going to put his feet up. He was our Group Leader until 1998 when he was "promoted" to ADC Cubs. Our new DC, Simon Bonney will be taking over from him at the AGM.
Our District has just appointed a chap to start up our District Network Section. This is for all young adults from 18 to 26 years old who would still like to be involved in Scouting or helping out at large events. Anyone can join even if you haven't been involved in Scouting before. They will meet occasionally for nights out such as bowling, social evenings, etc. Contact one of our Group Leaders for more details.
Our District is also appointing someone to look after our Young Leaders. Explorers aged 14-18 can take part in the scheme.
32 Scouts and 7 Leaders took part in the Scout Night Hike from Godrevy to Lanner. The weather was clear, dry and warm, a miracle. 12 stayed overnight and had a well deserved full English breakfast the next day.
